Ahmedabad (also spelled Ahmadabad) was establised by muslim ruller Sultan Ahmed Shah, and is the sixth largest city in India which comes under Gujarat state. Ahmedabad is India’s first UNESCO World Heritage City. It is the commercial hub of the state of Gujarat, though it is not the state capital, which is its twin city Gandhinagar, 30 km to the north.

Administration
Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA). The prime objective of the AUDA’s formation was to carry out the sustained planned development of the area failing outside the periphery of Ahmedebad Municipal Corporation.The area under AUDA is 1866 km². The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation or the AMC, established in July 1950 under the Bombay Provincial Corporation Act, 1949, is responsible for the civic infrastructure and administration of the city of Ahmedabad. The corporation is headed by a Municipal commissioner, an IAS officer appointed by the government of Gujarat. He wields the executive power of the house.
